Many sun worshippers and sea worshippers are preferred here due to the
cozy sun light. Being a developed coastal shore of South, you can go for
shopping at super markets, villas, and hotels in the west of town. You
can entertain whole over the day on your visit to Tangalla. Medaketiya
beach and Medilla beach are located to the east from Tangalla. A cluster
of mangrove swamps and aquatic bio diversity is an identity here.
Tangalla beach is nourished with beautiful beach cabanas built in
accordance to the rural architectural style in Sri Lanka. They are
thatched and stilted. You can easily visit the Rekawa lagoon whereas Sea
turtles use to lay their eggs at night. During the months of January -
July you can see them at beaches. You just need to bring a torch with
you. If you are lucky definitely you will found a one at the shore. Yet
please don’t harm them, be a respectable traveler.You can visit the Dive centers beside the beach and gain advice before getting into the dives. Tangalla beach consists of 2 sub beaches. As indicated above the east beach of Medaketiya and Medilla are best for sea dives and sun baths. The west beach is a state for sea baths among rocky capes. It is said that the November - April are the best months to visit for Tangalla beach as the beach gets its best. Although the summer season (months of May - October) is also acceptable. In addition, the sea seems calm and quiet but sometimes it gets rough in a summer season. This variable situation has been capable of attracting much more tourists to Tangalla. A rare geological experience can be pierced at Hummanaya blow hole which can be easily toured from Tangalla. It is yet another place to be visited in Sri Lanka. Mulgirigala Raja Maha Viharaya, Wewurukannala monastery complex, Ussangoda and Tangalla lagoon are listed among the high ranked tourist attractions and destinations in Tangalla. Hence ward you can visit them also.
